What is the Maximum Loss Limit (MLL)?
Updated on September 28, 2026
At FXIFY Futures, the Maximum Loss Limit is an End-of-Day (EOD) trailing drawdown based on the highest account balance recorded at market close. This structure ensures that your risk limit trails your account gains as your account grows, providing flexible room to trade while protecting capital.
Maximum Loss by Plan Type
Flex Accounts (Evaluation)
- $50,000 Account: $1,750 (3.5%)
- $100,000 Account: $3,250 (3.25%)
- $150,000 Account: $4,500 (3.0%)
Direct Accounts (Instant Simulated Funding)
- $25,000 Account: $1,000 (4.0%)
- $50,000 Account: $1,750 (3.5%)
- $100,000 Account: $3,250 (3.25%)
- $150,000 Account: $4,500 (3.0%)
(Note: Flex plan traders can purchase an optional add-on at checkout to increase their Maximum Loss Limit allowance by $250).
How Max Loss Limit is Calculated
The drawdown threshold updates based on your End-of-Day (EOD) account balance:
- Initial Threshold: On a $50,000 Flex account with a $1,750 Max Drawdown, your initial minimum allowable balance threshold is set to $48,250.
- Balance Increases: If your account balance grows to $51,000 at market close, your trailing drawdown threshold rises to $49,250.
- Balance Decreases: If your balance drops to $50,500 during the next trading day, your trailing threshold remains locked at $49,250 and will not move down.
- Locking the Drawdown: Once your account profit equals your initial drawdown cushion (reaching $51,750 on a $50k account), or whenever a payout request is processed, the trailing threshold locks permanently at your starting account balance ($50,000) for the remainder of the account's life.
What Happens If You Hit the Maximum Loss Limit?
If your account balance falls to or below your Maximum Loss Limit threshold, all open positions will be closed, and the account will be deactivated:
- Flex Accounts: Breaching the limit ends evaluation eligibility. However, you can start over at any time by purchasing an Account Reset ($89 for $50k, $149 for $100k, or $209 for $150k), which issues a brand-new evaluation account with your original starting balance and specifications.
- Direct and Funded Accounts: Breaching the limit permanently closes the account. Account resets are not available for Direct or Funded plans; however, you can repurchase a new account to continue trading.
